Newyork & Newyorkers, “Nothing Ain’t like!”
Ice skating in Central Park, admiring the sparkling Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and the classic film “The Miracle of Manhattan” or “Home Alone in New York” one can only guess how the Christmas season in New York City feels well.
Frankfurt. Early in the morning, our direct flight with Singapore Airlines A380 to New York. So we had the first morning in the Big Apple. Our hotel, the YOTEL New York, which is located in proximity to Times Square, has impressed us with its futuristic devices and the great atmosphere.
The check-in could make itself in a vending machine. After entering the personal data and the reservation number to give the room card and getting straight upstairs to the lobby and from there with one of the 6 lifts to the correct floor was invigorating. We had the Premium View Cabin Queen. In other words, we had one of the best rooms, which was so high that we could enjoy a great view facing to the Hudson- especially at night. Following are the best places to visit in New York City.
In the 34th Street spend several hours in the self-proclaimed and the biggest department store in the world. Especially during the festive season you will be showered with ideas for gifts and discounts on each floor.Numerous restaurants invite you to spend time in the store and you can not decide what you want to look at first. The store is also known for its Thanksgiving Parade, which can be seen in the movie “The Miracle of Manhattan”. For children especially, the Santa land on the 8th floor is recommended. The path to Santa is wonderfully decorated for Christmas with great attention to detail. Finally arrived there, one can express his wishes to Santa Claus and even make a souvenir photo, which you can then purchase.

At Rockefeller Center is probably the most famous Christmas tree in the world. With a big celebration of Christmas on 02/12/2015 this place was enlightened. Everyone wanted to take a photo with the famous Christmas tree or on the front of nearby ice skating.
One can indulge in a little break in Park Central. The beautifully landscaped park in the heart of New York offers a peaceful oasis in a so often noisy city. The famous zoo in Central Park shown in the movie Madagascar is worth seeing anyway. Central Park surely has to be in the list of best places to visit in New York City.
Anyone looking for branded shops, will find it here. No business is missing from this endless shopping street. In Tiffany’s a diamonds sparkle in the eyes, at the Apple Store you can get the latest technology, at Saks of Fifth Avenue you can shower in high street fashion . The facade of the Nobel department store transforms into nightfall on “Christmas” -Light Show backed by loud music.
FLAT IRON BUILDING
The building at the intersection Fifth Avenue / Broadway impresses with its narrow shape and is therefore another landmark of New York.
Ground Zero. Goosebumps! The foundations of the former Twin Towers are now huge fountains with waterfalls. On the border of the fountain, the names of the deceased are engraved. Once the Twin Towers, today is the ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER with a height of 541.3 meters, the tallest building in the United States and the fourth highest in the world.
When it gets dark in New York the city turns into a sea of lights. Especially nice to admire, none other than on the Brooklyn Bridge. The oldest bridge in New York connects the two neighborhoods Manhattan and Brooklyn with a length of nearly 2,000 meters.
STATUE OF LIBERTY
Our eyes looked at the Statue of Liberty during the trip from Manhattan to Staten Iceland. The ferry connects the two locations and runs every half hour- for free! The crossing not only has a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty but also to the Manhattan skyline. No need to say but this place can never be excluded from the list of best places to visit in New York City. 😆
GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL
Get on the metro. A weekly ticket costs 35 dollars and is a good investment. With no other means of transport you can reach quickly in the individual quarters and points of the metropolis. The main station is Grand Central Station on 42nd Street and impresses with its beautiful architecture. A must-see.
BROADWAY – ALADDIN MUSICAL
If you are in New York, is a musical on world famous Broadway to explore. We chose for Aladdin, which is a listed Theater in New Amsterdam and did not regret. A few weeks earlier, we were overwhelmed already with TARZAN in Stuttgart and were on to the stage show- but Aladdin is again fantastic! The sparkling, colorful and elaborate costumes (perfectly occupied), the actor, the oriental scenery with the magic carpet from which one does not know how it works, were simply amazing! The show is a mixture of excitement and fun and takes the audience into a world of Arabian Nights.
In New York City you get something or the other to eat on every corner. The variety of offerings is simply outstanding. Here are a few recommendations 🙂
EATALY (opposite Flatiron Building)
The Christmas season in New York is wonderful! We liked it very much and we would do it again at any time 🙂
