An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.7 has struck southwest of the city of Puerto Montt in southern Chile, according to the United States Geological Survey. The depth was about 34km.
Chile’s national emergency office issued an alert and ordered the evacuation of coastal areas of Los Lagos region.
Also with the latest reports and base on all the available data , the tsunami threat from this earthquake has now passed.
No deaths reported.
