    Mediterranean cuisine is centred around Olives, wheat and grapes. The method of cooking is to enhance the flavor of the fresh ripe produce. Mediterranean diet is primarily plant based and includes the ingredients of seasonal fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and olive oil. Eggs and dairy are used in moderation in a Mediterranean diet. The non vegetarian has sea food components in it. Meat is to its minimum and used in sauces. Grapes are an integral part of the region and are used in wine. Pasta and bread are rolled and baked from the whole grain version. Rice is of wild grain unprocessed variety. Processed foods, refined sugars and fats like butter do not form the part of Mediterranean cuisine.
