Mediterranean foods are all about fresh seasonal produce, chickpeas, extra virgin olive oil, yogurt, salads, non processed cheese, exotic herbs and condiments. Mediterranean foods are getting a global twist with pita-based appetizers, wraps and wood fired pizzas, falafel and a range of hummus varieties. Menus are loaded with Mediterranean choices because they are healthy.

Tornado potatoes are potato twisters and potato screws that are a popular street food in South Korea originally developed by Jeong Eun Suk of Agricultural Hoeori Inc. It is a deep fried spiral-cut whole potato on a skewer brushed with various seasonings such as onion, cheese or honey. Tornado potatoes varieties have sliced sausages in between. The snack is becoming increasingly popular in America and Canada.

Poutine is a French Canadian classic of French fries, cheese curds and brown gravy. Poutine is getting its global twist with Peri Peri French fries variety. Poutine is an ideal comfort food with spicier and dressier version of simple salted French fries.

Bubble tea is a non-alcoholic, noncarbonated cold tea beverage also known as tapioca pearls drink, milk tea or bubble drink invented in Taiwan in the 80s. Bubble Tea gradually started trending in South East Asia and Thailand. The drink is prepared in a cocktail shaker with popping bubbles. The new twist is fruit flavored bubbles adding texture to the drink. Bubble tea is getting coffee and iced tea versions too.

Belgium waffles originated from Belgium nestled between France, Germany and the Netherlands. It is getting its modern twist in concept joints and specialty stations that offer on-the-go waffle sandwiches with a choice of fillings. Bubble waffles on the other hand is a hot favourite with the street foodies of Hong Kong. It is a Cantonese variety called gai daan zai meaning ‘little eggs.’ Bubble waffles are trending with bubble wraps, bubble milkshakes and pocket waffles. Bubble ice cream is trending on Instagram with marshmallow creme pieces, red velvet cake chunks, white chocolate, vanilla, Ferraro Rocher and Nutella toppings.
